Where are we located?


We are located in Playa Dominical in between the Central and South Pacific of Costa Rica (Puntarenas). This region is a tropical rain forest and is known for its tremendous beauty.



What is the best way to get to CRSC?


We offer transportation included in the packages from the Airport to Dominical and back to the Airport.

If you'd like to fly into Dominical it is necessary to connect in San Jose but schedules are not always the best. The air shuttle from San Jose to Dominical (Quepos or Palmar Sur Airport) depends on the demand of the people flying. It is always better to book a flight with a good time in advance. You only have to pay a small difference for the tickets. The flight lasts about 30 minutes and each airport is about 60 minutes from Dominical.

The ground shuttle from San Jose to Dominical can take about 4 hours.



What is Dominical like?


Dominical is a thriving little beach village. There are several bars, restaurants, tour places, and souvenir shops to choose from. All of these places are within walking distance from CRSC, which is located downtown.

What airport should I fly to if I am coming from outside of Costa Rica?


Juan Santamaria International Airport, San Jose, 4 hours drive from Dominical


Which airlines fly to Costa Rica?


Taca, United, Spirit Air, Copa, Iberia, Delta, Continental, American, and Mexicana all fly to the San Juan Santa Maria International Airport


Is airfare included in the package price?

It is not included.


Does CRSC arrange airfare?


Only from Juan Santamaria Internacional Airport to Dominical (Quepos or Palmar Sur Airport)

What if we want to rent a car to get to Dominical?

On every Car Rental they will give you a Map with all the roads. You can ask them which is the best way and they will let you know. Always the Chirripo road is the best and then get into San Isidro de Perez Zeledon and then Dominical.

Also, if you don't feel comfortable driving one of us can go to San Jose and drive you in the car rental to Dominical.


How many instructors do you have?


CRSC has 6-8 full-time surf instructors, depending on the time of year.


How big is the surf class and are they group lessons?

CRSC offers private surfing instruction with quality attention paid to each student. Our lesson sizes are never more than three students per instructor, most all of the time it is 1 or 2 students per instructor.

How long do the surf lessons last?


Surf lessons are generally 1.5 - 2 hours in length.


I have never surfed, is the school right for me?


CRSC offers surf instruction for people of all levels. Even if you've never seen the ocean, we don't care. We will teach you to surf, and it will be fun!


I have surfing experience, but I still feel like I would benefit from surf instruction, is the school right for me?


CRSC offers surf instruction for people of all levels. If you feel as though you would benefit from surf instruction, you definitely will! Let us set you up with an Intermediate-level or established-level surf school lesson plan, and get you surfing BETTER!

I have never surfed, but the person I am coming with surfs. What should we do?


CRSC offers the unique opportunity to combine all of our packages however you choose. While the beginning surfer is receiving daily surf instruction, the advanced surfer will be involved in one of the various guided surf tours. Both of you will have plenty of time to hang out and surf together



What is the average age of the people enrolled in the surf school?


Many Surf School students range from mid 20s to mid 40s in age. We always have guests both younger and older, as well as entire families, there is never a bad time to learn to surf!

There are always kids, in wich we focus most of the time.

What should I bring?


All you really need is a bathing suit, sunscreen, camera and a smile. If you're enrolling in the Surf School, you might want to invest in a rashguard (to prevent a rash on your chest while surfing). Or....you can wait and purchase one once you arrive in town.

 

When is the best time to come to Costa Rica to surf?

Dominical's weather is the same all year round, with surf conditions great any time of year. Our staff knows the best beaches in the area, so you are sure to learn at the beach with the best waves for you.
